The ‘Jewel in the Crown’ of Cotswold Towns speaks to a time gone by. The ancient word ‘chipping’ means market and the high street follows the line of an ancient trading route. A planned town from the late 12th century, the Market Hall built in 1627 for the sale of butter, cheese and poultry still stands.
