Allow me to plan your bespoke Cotswold car tour. I will design the day entirely around your interests and preferences. We will visit honey hued stone villages where time itself has stood still. We will travel past streams and lush meadows, during which you can sit back and enjoy the scenic beauty of our quintessentially English countryside. Furthermore, there will be plenty of time to stop, take photos, and browse around the towns and villages. Full day Cotswold car tours are ideal for 2-3 people and prices start at £350. Whatever you would like to see, and however much time you’ve got I can plan around your needs. From the well-known to the hidden gems, here is a flavour of the type of Cotswold Tour you will enjoy.
Bourton-on-the-Water
Often referred to as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’ the River Windrush runs through it criss-crossed by charming low bridges. Bourton is full of things to do. For example, visit the 1/9th scale Model Village, Birdland Park and Gardens, the Cotswold Motoring Museum and an excellent model shop.
The Slaughters
Lower Slaughter is a quintessentially pretty Cotswold village – a real ‘chocolate box’ picture. Subsequently, it is a favourite of photographers and artists. Furthermore, The Slaughters have long been a favourite place for film directors. The tiny River Eye runs through it and once powered the still existing water mill. Upper Slaughter is equally pretty and is one of just 13 ‘Double Thankful Villages’. This is because its residents, who were members of the armed forces, survived both World Wars.
Stanway & Stanton
This honey hued estate village is centred upon the magnificent Stanway House. Stanway House has a baroque gatehouse and formal gardens featuring a 300 foot single jet fountain – the highest in Britain. The house, gardens and surrounding mellow stone buildings all subtly combine to create a wonderful period charm.
Situated below the Cotswold Edge, Stanton is a beautiful village where time has stood still. The medieval parish church has some early 14th century wall paintings. It also has grooves on the backs of pews where shepherds used to tie their dogs while attending Sunday service.
Burford
Burford is one of the most attractive Cotswold towns. It is full of lovely old stone buildings and set on a slope leading to the medieval bridge over the River Windrush. Shops, houses and cottages line the main street, which appear little changed from Tudor times.
Blenheim Palace
Magnificent Blenheim Palace is another World Heritage Site. It was completed in 1722 for the Duke of Marlborough as a gift from a grateful Queen Anne. It is famous as being the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Firstly, walk in the footsteps of history as you explore the beautiful state rooms and the Churchill Exhibition. After admire the scale and grandeur of the formal gardens and Capability Brown’s landscaped grounds.
Full day luxury Cotswold car tour prices start at £350 and are suitable for 2 – 3 people.
