Tetbury
Historic Tetbury has its origins in the 7th century as a defended hilltop site. Well known today for its royal connections with nearby Highgrove, the home of HRH the Prince of Wales. The town is a busy commercial centre. Visit the Market House built in 1655 for the sale of wool and yarn it still has a market use today. Then walk down Gumstool Hill to the 17th Century weavers cottages or admire the Gothic style interior of St Mary’s church.
Cirencester
The ‘Capital of The Cotswolds’ is my nearest town and is a former Roman fort known then as Corinium. Marvel at the Church of St John The Baptist, which dominates the Market Square. As a result of its recent restoration it has the nickname ‘the Sandcastle’ and you will see why! You can also visit the Corinium Museum, New Brewery Arts Centre and the Corn Hall. Furthermore, explore the charming back streets of this busy market town.
Chedworth Roman Villa 
Nestling in the idyllic Cotswold countryside, Chedworth’s Roman Villa was rediscovered by the Victorians over 150 years ago. Step back to the age of the Roman occupation of Britain. Marvel at the sophistication of their homes furnished with underfloor heating, elaborate bath rooms and beautiful mosaics.
Northleach
Northleach is renowned for having a workhouse at one end and a prison at the other! In-between is a really beautiful town of mellow stone featuring the magnificent church of St Peter and St Paul – the ‘Cathedral of the Cotswolds’. Also a walk along the High Street will bring you to the Museum of Mechanical Music.
Bourton-on-the-Water
Often referred to as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’ the River Windrush runs through it criss-crossed by charming low bridges. Bourton is full of things to do. For example, visit the 1/9th scale Model Village, Birdland Park and Gardens, the Cotswold Motoring Museum and an excellent model shop.
Bibury
Set nearby the river Coln, the 14th century Arlington Row of weaver’s cottages provides the focal point of this beautiful village. In addition, Rack Isle, a boggy water meadow and an important wildlife habitat lies at the centre of the village.
The Slaughters
Lower Slaughter is a quintessentially pretty Cotswold village – a real ‘chocolate box’ picture. Subsequently, it is a favourite of photographers and artists. Furthermore, The Slaughters have long been a favourite place for film directors. The tiny River Eye runs through it and once powered the still existing water mill. Upper Slaughter is equally pretty and is one of just 13 ‘Double Thankful Villages’. This is because its residents, who were members of the armed forces, survived both World Wars.
Burford
Burford is truly one of the most attractive Cotswold towns. It is full of lovely old stone buildings and set on a slope leading to the medieval bridge over the River Windrush. Shops, houses and cottages line the main street, which appear little changed from Tudor times.
